Putting needle to thread in original clothing lines and individual pieces
Knit Lace Gown
While looking through a family closet, I came across some heirloom gowns of my great-grandmother's. I was incredibly inspired by one of her black lace gowns with ornate, draped sleeves. I decided to create a modernized version -- a statement piece due to its colors and bold design accents. It features an olive double ponte knit underlay with a black knit lace overlay. The knit fabrics mean that it is much more comfortable than my inspiration. Its draped sleeves, choker-inspired neckline, and pleating detail perpetuate the gown's asymmetrical design.

Custom Teal Gown
For this gown, I wanted to create a classic and flattering silhouette with contemporary linear features. I carefully drafted the pattern for this custom-fitted, floor length dress. It features convertible double straps, slimming princess seams, and a knee-high slit. I used 100% silk matte satin and a silk nude lining. Construction details and patternmaking accuracy were key players in the making of this gown.
Sustainabile use
For this look, I practiced sustainable fashion by sourcing my materials second-hand. I used a suede curtain valance and sheer curtains to create a look that creates contrast. It is hard yet soft, and structured yet free. Statement hardware elevates the look into a modern, street-style-inspired look.

Emerging Memphis Designer Project 2016
More often than not, my designs are inspired by some locale in the world. The Northern Lights have always remained on my bucket list. Their magical and ethereal manor inspired this collection, which meditates on the dichotomy of flowing elements against solid elements. These looks were created with 100% silk crepe, 100% silk chiffon, natural fabric dye, and ostrich feathers. I hand-painted the starry-night like panels on each of the garments. Removable shoulder clips with ostrich feathers added a touch of whimsy to the Memphis Fashion Week runway.
